Introduction

Introduction

Slope Optimiser automates open pit slope design. Give it the stratigraphy, rock properties and a target factor of safety, and it finds the steepest safe pitwall profile - so less waste rock has to be excavated.

This is the user manual for the Slope Optimiser CAD graphical interface.

Use the sections below to move through the typical workflow: prepare data, create or import project geometry, define properties, run simulations, review outputs, and export results for downstream analysis.

Optimal vs planar pitwall profile
The planar design in blue against the optimal profile in orange. The shaded area is the waste rock that does not need to be excavated.

Start with the Data Preparation page if you are working with new 3D stratigraphy or imported section files. Clean input geometry improves slicing, material assignment, and simulation reliability.
